Reiki is a Japanese word that translates into "spiritual" or "life force" (rei) "energy" (ki). The Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki, created by Kathleen Prasad, is an empathic, meditation-based healing modality that balances the flow of life force energy to support your companion’s behavioral, emotional, and physical needs, while holding space for your pain and joy.
The intention is to create a gentle space of gratitude and compassion in which you and your beloved companion can thrive, while empowering your unique bond from a place of energetic connection! Our work brings anxious and fearful pets peace and ease, helps recovering animals find confidence, and supports senior animals living with dis-ease, from inflammation through terminal illness.
Creating a space of balance and harmony allows your pet a respite from the mental trappings of discomfort, fear and confusion to assist their physical, mental, and emotional healing. Once the body and mind relax, healing energy can flow from a place of peace. When you participate as a partner, you can better provide ongoing support within your home.

“Jaime has worked with my dog Bogey and I distantly in recent months - we live in different states. As someone who has only experienced reiki in person until working with Jaime, I was skeptical about how effective distant reiki sessions would be for me, not to mention for my dog. Within minutes of beginning our session, I could undoubtedly feel a strong energetic connection with Jaime from states away. As someone who struggles with anxiety, it was so comforting to feel a complete sense of calm wash over me during our session. Upon completion of the session, I felt grounded, motivated, and slept soundly that night!
As for my dog Bogey, he’s typically very high energy and has a tendency to be hard headed if he doesn’t want to do something. Q: What is Animal Reiki Meditation and what does it look like?
A: The Empowered Companion staff is trained in Kathleen Prasad’s Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki. This practice is meditative and draws on the innate connectivity of all energy and energetic beings. During an Animal Reiki meditation session, we collaborate to create a space of balance, harmony, and peace. The practice does not require touch or proximity. This innate connection to light and love exists within us all, regardless of species, and creates space for healing connection, whether in person or from a distance.

Q: How is the Let Animals Lead® method different from other modalities I may have experienced?
A: The Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki incorporates the traditional Reiki precepts and symbols brought forward by Mikao Usui. It also may include chanting, meditation, qi gong and other energy healing techniques. Each practitioner may bring thier own experiences forward to enhance the experience.
Our work is based in meditation and a way of being with animals. We are not focused on hands-on healing or “doing” Reiki to a pet. Instead, we connect by “being” Reiki with a companion. Meditating from a place of mutual respect, recognizing animals as our teachers and healers, we collaborate to create a space for energetic healing.
Q: What is the difference between Animal Reiki and Empowered Companions Reiki sessions?
A: The simple difference is that one approach is focused primarily on animals, while the other includes directed healing for humans as well as animals. An Empowered Companions Session is a hands-on chair Reiki session for humans, followed by a guided Animal Reiki meditation for the whole family.
Q: When do you recommend an Empowered Companions Reiki Session?
A: This session or package is perfect for your first Animal Reiki experience because animals, especially those new to energy work or who are anxious, fearful or in pain, often relax more quickly when we focus on their human instead of on them. They can choose to join the session to support their human(s) or for their own healing.
This collaborative work also gently and effectively supports loss and grief for the entire family, and is a loving way to welcome a new animal to your home through the intentional creation of an energetic connection and space of belonging. Companion animals are kind and sensitive to the needs and emotions of the people with whom they share a home, and they are likely to relax into Reiki energy when sharing it with their human companion(s).

Q: Is Animal Reiki a substitute for veterinary care?
A: Animal Reiki is not a substitute for medical diagnosis and treatment. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they prescribe, perform medical treatment, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. The Empowered Companion recommends you take your animal to a licensed veterinarian or other licensed health-care professional for the diagnosis and medical treatment of any ailment.
Q: What areas do you service?
A: In person, we currently offer Animal Reiki Meditation and Empowered Companions sessions within a 15 mile radius of our home base in Englewood, CO. Travel fees may apply outside of this range.
In distant sessions, we have unlimited reach. Regardless of miles, we can connect across time and space, including with our beloved pets who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. The Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki does not require touch or proximity. This innate connection to light and love exists within us all, regardless of species, and creates space for healing connection.
