Walk in Harmony and Imperfection

We’re all animals – humans and cats, alike – and we all deserve holistic support that integrates the needs of our minds, bodies, hearts, and spirit. Reiki meditation for both animals and their companions is an outstanding complement to traditional training and behavior modification. Training techniques address the actions of the body and mind, and Animal Reiki meditation supports emotional health and spiritual balance. Bringing alignment helps shift not only the energy and behaviors in your home but empowers you through a strengthened bond with your pet!

As a Certified Advanced Cat Training Professional and member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), I can help you learn and implement effective solutions for your companion animal’s undesirable behaviors. We are committed to using evidence-based training methods focused on effective reinforcement, not aversive stimuli (punishment) to abate litter box aversion, destructive scratching, and to assist in cat-cat and cat-dog introductions. Additionally, we incorporate Animal Reiki Meditation to bring balance to our collaborative work and open the doors to understanding, connection and acceptance within your household.

We strive to empower you through education and action! You will receive a detailed action plan after our initial consultation and ongoing support as you work together with your furry companion to create harmony and balance in your home over the course of 5-8 weeks. We happily supply the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ and help you get involved with hands-on reinforcers to strengthen and grow the human-animal bond.

 FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Why should I pay a professional feline training and behavior modification specialist when I can find so much information about feline behavior on the internet?

A: As an experienced professional working with cats in a variety of settings and from all four aspects – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual – I bring invaluable, specialized knowledge. Additionally, working with a third party who can take a step back from the emotions you have been struggling with due to behavioral discordance invites a new perspective on the issue at hand. Often, when we are deep in a difficult situation with heavy emotions attached, it is difficult, if not impossible, to see a problem from all possible angles and accept that our preconceived notions may not be accurate. Diving into an internet search charged by emotions will usually offer answers that are skewed to support theories you have already considered but that have proven ineffective. An impartial professional can take into account your cat’s history, your home environment, the emotional climate, and many other factors to create a reasonable and cohesive action plan.

Q: What can I expect from a collaborative or integrative training package?

A: There is more to understand about working together to improve your cat’s behavioral concern than the simple outline of steps you see above. It is important that you understand this is a collaborative approach that requires a change in both the physical and emotional environment of your household in order to succeed. Your cat will not be the only one doing the work and making changes. You have to be committed to moving forward with an open mind, willing to hear and absorb new ideas and action steps, and ready to step outside of your comfort zone and preconceived notions to see the world through your cat’s eyes and heart. You can expect the changes you want to see to take time, often more time than you prefer, during our initial process as we make small steps toward change. You will most likely experience joy and relief as you learn to connect through mutual respect and understanding! We are confident you will find satisfaction and a new view of your partnership with your precious feline as you embrace animal agency and learn to decipher what your kitty is communicating through their actions.

Q: What behaviors can collaborative and integrative training help transform?

A: Our methods can support you and your cat with litter box aversion, destructive scratching, cat-cat and cat-dog introductions, mild to moderate aggression cases, and many other areas of feline behavior. If we don’t feel we are the right fit for your needs at any time, we will not hesitate to let you know. Our first priority is the health and well-being of both you and your feline companion.

Q: When do I need to seek out medical intervention?

A: Your trainer will let you know after the initial consultation if a full medical workup or targeted testin gand diagnosis is required before moving forward with behavioral concerns. Should there be cause for medical concern throughout the process, we will let you know. All improper elimination cases require a veterinary examination to rule out urinary disorders or other physical health issues that may be contributing to the problem at hand. Please provide examination notes and urine and blood work results for our files. We also suggest having your cat’s food allergies and sensitivities tested to rule out stomach discomfort as a reason for improper elimination - see our Resources page for a recommended practitioner.

Q: Are results guaranteed?

A: Expect transformation without expectation! There are no guarantees, but we will work collaboratively to find the best solution  – whether that be changing a behavior (feline or human) or finding a new, loving home if necessary. The ideal outcome is to find compromise while modifying undesired behaviors to create an emotional, spiritual connection within your home supporting your pet’s expression of needs.

Q: Do you train dogs or other animals outside of cats?

A: No, but we are in the process of identifying trainers in our area with similar core values. Check our Resources page as we develop this list of recommendations.
